Adam Slutsky is a seasoned entrepreneur with two decades of experience growing start-ups and running disruptive businesses. His forward thinking and innovative ideas have been tremendous assets to launching and scaling several technology and experience-based companies. Mr. Slutsky became President of Tough Mudder, Inc. in 2013. Tough Mudder is the leader in creating unconventional, life changing experiences best known for its 10-12 mile Tough Mudder (“Probably the toughest event on the planet”) obstacle course challenge. Tough Mudder produces more than 60 events each year across the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, and Australia. To date, more than 2 million people have participated in a Tough Mudder.
From 2005 to 2013 Mr. Slutsky served as Chief Executive Officer and Board Director of Mimeo.com, Inc. the market leader in online printing and overnight delivery of documents. Under his leadership Mimeo.com grew from 140 people and $20 million in revenue to 680 people and nearly $100 million in revenue. During his tenure, Mimeo added two lines of business, made a successful acquisition to expand its footprint to Europe, and strengthened its balance sheet via financings from top tier VC firms and Goldman Sachs. Slutsky remains a Board Director of Mimeo.com. Mr. Slutsky is also a co-founder of Moviefone and served as its Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Board Director from its inception in 1989. At Moviefone, he was responsible for numerous industry "firsts" including the first national interactive telephone service (777-FILM), the first advertising-supported national network of local phone numbers, the first fully automated remote ticketing system and the first event ticket sales service using the Internet (moviefone.com). Slutsky led Moviefone through an initial public offering in 1994 and a $550 million sale to AOL in 1999. At AOL, Mr. Slutsky served as Senior Vice President, Advanced Services where he led the integration of Moviefone into AOL’s Internet properties and created and launched several products including AOL Call Alert and AOL Voicemail.
Mr. Slutsky is a past board director of Congoleum Corp and past Advisory Board Member of Canyon Ranch Resort. He holds an MBA from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. He has been a guest lecturer on entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School and Cornell University. He lives in Westchester County with his wife and three children.
